Athletes Foot

Athletes foot (Onychomycosis, its medical name) is a painful, fungi that can be picked up virtually anywhere; locker rooms, showers, swimming pools or even hotel carpets. Some reports suggest up to 25% of Americans may be suffering from it.

The best course of action is prevention, by changing your socks regularly, especially after a work out, and ditch the old favorite but smelly sneakers also. Some of the newer drugs have been very successful in treating this condition. Ask your doctor to consider itraconazole as it appears to be effective in 64% of patients, while terbinafine hydrochloride and fluconazole also show very consistent results. At least one of these should help.
